The Return Ticket Kitchen
*Supper Club Concept Jun, 2025
The Return Ticket Kitchen - is a supper club concept rooted in my experience of growing up as a third culture kid. It was created to connect diasporic communities through the shared language of food and storytelling.
Centered around personal recipes and dishes that evoke a sense of “home,” the supper club explores how food can act as a return ticket to one’s roots, reconnecting people to memory, identity, and belonging. For those who can’t always physically return home, food becomes a powerful way to travel back to that feeling of familiarity and comfort.
Design System
The Return Ticket Kitchen is designed as a storytelling-led supper club, where each gathering is framed as a journey home through food. Rooted in the idea that food can transport us to places and memories we hold dear, the experience incorporates travel-themed design elements to evoke that sense of emotional movement. Each guest receives a set of printed materials, packaged within an airplane window-shaped card, symbolizing the idea of food as a journey to memory.
Every airplane window card represents one person’s dish and their story, pairing:
1. a postcard (with an image on the front that depicts the memory the food encapsulates, and it’s recipe on the back)
2.
a boarding pass-style return ticket (featuring personal reflections on how the dish connects them to home),
3.
an ingredients list reimagined as a receipt.
These tactile elements act as souvenirs from the journey, blending storytelling with design and allowing guests to take home more than just a meal—a memory.
